Your Family House is more than just another building on Home Island. House Tiers are part of your overall progression and can open up new things to build, use, and explore.
If you’re wondering why some building upgrades are locked or what you need to do to reach the next tier, here’s how the system works.
What Are House Tiers?
House Tiers are levels that you progress through by completing the requirements for your current tier.
Each tier comes with its own quests. These quests involve upgrading buildings on Home Island, and completing them moves you toward the next tier.
You can see your current tier by tapping the Family House.
The reward window also shows what you can receive when you complete the current tier.
How Do You Move to the Next Tier?
You don’t simply upgrade the Family House with one button.
First, you need to complete the quests connected to your current tier. These can require you to upgrade different buildings around Home Island.
Once you’ve completed the required quests and have the necessary building levels, you can progress to the next tier.
This means that if your next tier isn’t available yet, there may still be a building upgrade you need to finish.
Why Are Some Building Upgrades Locked?
This is one of the more useful things to understand about House Tiers.
Some building upgrades are only unlocked after you reach a particular tier. So if an upgrade appears unavailable, check whether your current House Tier is the reason.
The reverse can also happen. A new tier may require a particular building on Home Island to already be at the required level.
So your House Tier and building progression are closely connected.
What Do You Get From House Tiers?
Moving up through the tiers can give you more than a nicer-looking house.
According to the official Family Island Help Center, tiers can unlock things such as:
- New crafts
- Animals
- Characters
- Buildings and upgrades
- New areas
- Rewards
The exact rewards and unlocks depend on the tier you’re working toward.
Advancing through House Tiers can also give you additional Energy as part of your overall progression.
What Should You Upgrade First?
There isn’t one universal building that you should always upgrade first.
Instead, look at the quests shown for your current House Tier and work toward the requirements that are actually blocking your progress.
If an upgrade is needed for the next tier, it becomes a much higher priority than spending resources on something that isn’t connected to your current progression.
This can save you from upgrading buildings at random and then finding out you still need to work on something else.
Don’t Ignore Your Home Island
It’s easy to spend most of your time on Adventure Islands and forget about Home Island.
House Tiers give you a reason to keep improving your home base. The buildings you upgrade there can be directly connected to your progression through the tiers.
So when you’re unsure what to work on next, checking the Family House can give you a useful direction.
House Tier 9 and the Loyalty Club
House Tiers also matter for some later features.
The Loyalty Club is available from House Tier 9, although the official Help Center notes that access is being gradually rolled out and may not be available to every eligible player immediately.
The Loyalty Club includes daily rewards, points, and its own reward tiers.
So reaching higher House Tiers can have benefits beyond the immediate rewards shown for your current tier.
A Simple Way to Handle House Tiers
You don’t need to rush through the system.
When you reach a new tier, check the requirements and see which building upgrades are needed. Work on those instead of upgrading everything at once.
As you complete the required quests, you’ll gradually unlock the next stage of your Home Island.
And if something seems locked, check your House Tier before assuming you are missing a resource.
Keep Working on Your Home Island
House Tiers are basically a way of tying your Home Island upgrades to the wider progression of Family Island.
Complete the quests for your current tier, keep the required buildings upgraded, and check the Family House when you’re unsure what comes next.
The further you progress, the more features, upgrades, and rewards can become available.
